What to do if the e-ticket coupon status does not allow reissue

Problem/Cause

Not able to reissue because the coupon status does not allow it.

Customer Action

1. Check the coupon status. Is it eligible for exchange (coupon status is A or O)?

2. If status is O, then a reject is not normal. In this case, and only in this case, please contact your Amadeus Help Desk.

3. If status is A:

  • Verify with the validating airline if they accept to change the coupon status
  • Ask them to force coupon status to allow the exchange.

4. If this change is not possible, the agency should contact the Amadeus Help Desk in order to request a change of flight coupon status from A to O with the airline involved.

For additional information concerning the different status codes of an e-ticket, refer to the Amadeus Help Pages: HE TWD > GPET2

More details

Most airlines allow exchanges of e-ticket coupons even when status is A (Airport control). It cannot however be done for any final status (F-Flown, V-Void, E-Exchanged, R-Refunded).

If an airline does not allow exchanges when status is A, the airline needs to change the coupon status to O (Open for Use).

Note that e-ticket records are the property of the validating carrier, and that Amadeus cannot change e-ticket status, so it is up to the airline to accept. Airlines have the ability to change/force coupon status manually. Amadeus ETS-hosted airlines can do this directly in Amadeus - this is the responsibility of the airline control desk office (not the airport/city office). If the coupon is controlled by another airline, the validating airline has to ask the controlling airline to redirect/return control to them.
